Neurotype Workshops

In these workshops, you will find comprehensive, neuro-affirming education that help you understand the A to Zs of your child's diagnosis, from how autism and ADHD came to be, to how their brain is wired, to how this impacts the way they see the world, and importantly, their unique pathway of supports.

Autism Workshop

The course will help you deepen your translation of what autism is, and you’ll learn to understand why your child does things the way they do.

Walk away knowing how to be the best ally in the school and therapy system.

ADHD Workshop

The course will help you deepen your understanding of ADHD - well beyond "a little bit fidgety" or "daydreams often" - to what we really need to know. What drives my child? Why can't my child get started on tasks? How can I set up my ADHDer to succeed in life? Allow this course to answer some of the questions you needed answered.

Supporting Autistic/ADHDer Students

A common story I get told is that even though we're seeing more and more autistic and ADHDer children in the classroom, these concepts weren't covered in your degree. You do a lot of research in your own time and respond well to what parents tell you about their child, but you always feel like it's not enough.

We'll be covering:

  • What is autism and ADHD?  including covering neuroscience and the different presentations

  • How these neurotypes think and process the world

  • Accommodations you can put into place to be an inclusive teacher

In the next 70 minutes? You'll emerge more confident than before in meeting their needs. In understanding our neurodivergent students. In truly seeing them, and then designing a curriculum that is inclusive.

To quote Captain Planet, the power is yours.

Are you ready?

Intro to ND affirming practice

This webinar is a wonderful introduction to those who have heard about affirming practice but aren't quite sure of what it's about and the entire paradigm shift. Absolutely a-okay, we all had to start somewhere, and right here is an excellent space.

We'll be learning more about:

  • What is neurodiversity?

  • What are the words neurodivergent and neurotypical and who does this cover?

  • The social justice behind the neurodiversity movement

  • Core paradigm shifts from the medical model

  • Key language changes that have occurred

  • Reflective practice on the history of harm in therapy and medical professionals, and how knowing this, we start to do better.

Affirming Goal Writing

Ready to make meaningful change in your IEP Goals, but unsure where to start? This is the section for you. It's ideal for clinicians and teachers who would like to write more affirming goals, have learnt about tenets of the neurodiversity paradigm, but need guiding principles for how to write affirming goals.

We'll be covering:

  • Purpose of IEPs in Australian schools

  • Framework and points of consideration for IEPs

  • Looking at examples of goals and giving ideas on how to improve them

  • Robust Q&A discussion

Go forth, change the world with knowledge and set better, trauma-informed goals for the children who need it the most.

Considerations for Affirming Therapy

If you wanted to learn how to be a better neuro-affirming paediatric clinician, I've got you here. In this webinar, I'm bringing you the key considerations for therapy that have arisen from my years in private practice.

Participants will be able to

  • Describe updates to neuro-affirming practice

  • Understand the autistic neurotype holistically

  • Reflect on holistic implementation of neuro-affirming practice, from intake to therapy

  • Add concrete ideas to their therapy toolkit

  • Conceptualise and differentiate presentations based on what is known about the autistic population

  • Tailor treatment plans accordingly based on the above

    How does that sound?

Not ready to jump in? That's okay too.

Sandhya has created a range of resources for easy, accessible information for you. Sometimes, the less time you spend engaging with an item, the less we take the information on and have it truly inform practice, but if you benefit from an easy visual and want the information to marinate away, then this section is for you.
